Do you find yourself constantly distracted? I used to feel that way. I almost quit my job but found this trick to handle distraction. It’s been a game-changer for me over the years.

What I did was remarkably simple—I turned off those notification sounds on my phone. And only checked it during specific times.
I realized that I didn’t need every beep and ping interrupting my focus. So I set specific intervals to check emails and messages.
I told my colleagues that I was adopting this method to enhance productivity and well-being. I also let them know that for critical matters, they could reach me by phone. The only sound I left on my phone – for receiving urgent calls.
To my surprise, urgent calls were far rarer than I expected.
4 steps to handle distraction
- Turn off notification sound on your phone
- Set specific intervals to check emails and messages
- Explain your colleagues why you need this
- Tell your colleagues how they can reach you anyway if this is urgent
Try this and your productivity will thank you.
